Student Policies

Our 4 Core Student Policies

1st Of Month Billing: Tuition must be paid by automatic credit card payment. Tuition will be charged to your credit card on file the 1st day of each month for 4 lessons a month until notified to withdraw. Some months may have 3, 4, or 5 scheduled lessons depending on holidays and the Academy Year Calendar. All lessons and classes are continuous, and students may retain their spot as long as they like.

Monthly Withdrawal Deadline: Lessons may be cancelled by submitting our Online Withdrawal Form. TheWithdrawal Form must be received by the 15th of the month to take effect at the end of that month. For example: Cancellation Form received on the 16th of May is billed for the following month of June and takes effect at the end of June, etc. There are no exceptions.

Unlimited Group Make-Up Classes: Any missed 30 minute private lessons shall be made up with our flexible 1-hour group make-up lessons held every week. I agree that no private make up lessons are provided for missed lessons on behalf of the student. If you are alone in a makeup group class, the 60 minutes group class will be converted to a 30 minute private class. Group class make ups are unlimited and never expire.

Holding A Lesson Time & Non-Refundable Fees: By holding a time in a teacher’s schedule that may not be registered by others, no refunds will be provided for unattended weekly lessons or unscheduled or expired private make up lesson credits offered for staff or Academy cancellations and closures.

Teacher Substitutions: In order to maintain student progress, the school schedules substitute teachers when a regularly scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach due to professional commitments. No refunds or make-up lessons will be given if the student does not attend a lesson with a substitute. If no substitute is available, the student will be offered a make-up lesson at a later date.

Procedural Student Policies

Injuries and Treatment: The school will provide any medical assistance they deem appropriate for minors enrolled in our programs, and all expenses incurred are the responsibility of parents or guardians of that child. Adult students and the parents or legal guardians of minors waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from activities conducted by the students before, during, or after lessons and classes.

In Person Lessons: Despite the Academies best efforts to create a family-safe atmosphere, in-person lessons expose families and children to health and safety risks beyond the Academy’s reasonable control. The Academy is not liable for injuries or sickness sustained as a result.

Practice Time: In order to learn music effectively and improve steadily, students should schedule a regular daily practice time at home.  Practice should be done in a quiet, distraction-free area.  It is very important for parents to supervise children between the age of 5- 10 during their practice time, especially during their first year of study.  Refer to the suggestions on helping your child to practice in the new student guidebook and regularly discuss your child’s practice routine with his or her teacher.

5th Week Days Most months you will have 4 lessons per month, but a few times a year, your regularly scheduled lesson day may land in a month that has 5 lesson days, or on a day when we are closed for a holiday. However, your assigned lesson weekday is scheduled for 4 lessons per month on average across a 48 lesson per year schedule, and you will only ever be billed for 4 lessons monthly for your convenience. We will notify you when your lesson weekday will be affected. You can view our year calendar in advance at:

Instructional Time: The last 5 minutes of each lesson is not instructional time – this time is reserved for packing up, finishing homework notes, touching base with a parent or guardian, and teacher preparation for starting the next lesson on time.

Extreme Weather: If the school must cancel classes due to extreme weather or events beyond our control such as power outages, teachers will provide either a live video lesson or a recorded lesson.

Communications: All studio communications and bookings must be made through the scheduling software or front desk staff, not our teachers directly. We are not responsible for scheduling arrangements made directly with a teacher. You may use the

Non-Refundable/Fees: Fees and/or lessons are nonrefundable; this includes booked lessons that the student does not attend.
Arrival and Departure:  If a student arrives late to a scheduled lesson, the lesson will still finish at the scheduled time, so the Academy can remain on time for the next student. For parents who have more than one child arriving at the academy, all children must be supervised while another other child is in their lesson. It is neither the instructor’s nor front desk assistant’s responsibility, and they do not have availability to supervise children in the waiting areas. Parents are expected to pick up their children promptly at the conclusion of their lessons as no Academy staff are available to supervise children at the conclusion of lessons.

Summer Lessons: We are a year-round school and do not close in the summer. Students frequently make the most musical progress during the summer months when they are more focused and have more time to practice. We registered over a hundred students each summer with old students increasing their lessons, and new students registering. Most of our students choose to keep their lesson time and skype lessons, or make up missed lessons, when they return. Students who stop lessons for the summer and re-enroll during the September rush often find their old teacher is unavailable, and popular lesson times are gone upon their return. Students will also be required to restart the musical ladder from the beginning, as it rewards continued commitment to the academy and their musical growth.

Consent for Digital Communication and Media Release: Unless notified by our Consent Withdrawal Form via our website, the Academy is given consent to send notices and information regarding lessons, events and future registrations to student families by email, text and other digital methods. Student information will not be shared with any outside companies or parties. The school reserves the right to take photographs and videos of students around the Academy, at our musical performance events, to celebrate musical achievements and milestones, and to use in educational and promotional materials, and to copyright such photographs in its name. No last names will be used.
