Student Policies

Our 4 Core Student Policies

1st Of Month Billing: I authorize Toronto Arts Academy to auto-debit on the 1st of every month my credit card for $172 until notified to withdraw.

Unlimited Group Make-Up Classes: I agree that any missed 30 minute private lessons shall be made up with our flexible 1-hour group make-up lessons held every week. If you are alone in the group class, your makeup class will be a private 30 minute class. Group class make ups are unlimited. I agree that no private make up lessons are provided for missed lessons on behalf of the student. I agree that during the pandemic, group classes are only available online.

Monthly Withdrawal Deadline: I agree that withdrawals must be received via our withdrawal form by the 15th to be processed for the 1st of the next month by our payment processor. Our withdrawal form is available online at TorontoArtsAcademy.com/withdrawal, or via our in-studio ipad.

In Person Lessons: I agree that in-person lessons during the COVID-19 pandemic expose me/my child(ren) to significant health and safety risks, and that the Academy’s procedures for in-person lessons must be adhered to and strictly followed – no exceptions. I agree that availability for in-person lessons is limited and that not all lesson times have in-person availability. I agree that if I wish to attend any portion of my scheduled lessons in-person, I must complete the in-person lesson request process and agreement, the links to begin the process for which are avaiable on the confirmation page following this form. I agree not to attend the academy, until the in-person lesson request process and the agreement is completed.

Procedural Student Policies

Practice Time: In order to learn music effectively and improve steadily, students should schedule a regular daily practice time at home.  Practice should be done in a quiet, distraction-free area.  It is very important for parents to supervise children between the age of 5- 10 during their practice time, especially during their first year of study.  Refer to the suggestions on helping your child to practice in the new student guidebook and regularly discuss your child’s practice routine with his or her teacher.

5th Week Days: A few times a year, your regularly scheduled time may fall on a 5th weekday or holiday where we have no lessons. We will notify you when your timeslot will be affected.

Communication: All studio communications and bookings must be made through the front desk staff, not our coaches. We cannot honor any arrangements made with a coach.

Coach Privacy: Please respect our coach’s commitments and privacy by directing your questions to the front desk outside of your lesson time. We will do our best to get you an answer.

Non-Refundable/Fees: Fees and/or lessons are nonrefundable; this includes booked lessons that the student does not attend.

Arrival and Departure: Please arrive on time; if you come late, the lesson will still finish at the scheduled time, as we must start on time for the next student. For parents who have more than one child arriving at the academy, please supervise all of your children while another other child is in their lesson. It is neither the instructor’s nor front desk assistant’s responsibility to supervise children in the waiting room. Parents are expected to pick up their children promptly at the conclusion of their lessons.  No one will be supervising the children at the conclusion of lessons.

Summer Lessons: We are a year-round school and do not close in the summer. Students frequently make the most musical progress during the summer months when they are more focused and have more time to practice. We registered over a hundred students each summer with old students increasing their lessons, and new students registering. Most of our students choose to keep their lesson time and skype lessons, or make up missed lessons, when they return. Students who stop lessons for the summer and re-enroll during the September rush often find their old teacher is unavailable, and popular lesson times are gone upon their return. Students will also be required to restart the musical ladder from the beginning, as it rewards continued commitment to the academy and their musical growth.

Teacher Substitutions: Due to our coaches professional commitments, Toronto Arts Academy may occasionally need to substitute your certified coach with another for lessons or group classes which will enrich your learning.

Injuries: Parents, legal guardians of minor members and/or adult members waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on Toronto Arts Academy’s property or events that result from any activity conducted by the members before, during or after class time.

Policy and Procedure Changes: These Policies and Procedures are subject to change.

Consent & Release: The school is hereby granted permission to take photographs of the students to use on our walls of fame, in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements and other promotional materials the school creates. No last names will be used. Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs in its name. Consent may be withdrawn via written request. However, for your protection, withdrawn consent students will not be permitted to participate in any of the academy’s free, featured events, including performances.
