Twice-Yearly Student Performances

At Toronto Arts Academy, we believe that music is meant to be shared—and our twice-yearly student performances offer the perfect opportunity to do just that. Held in professional, accessible venues throughout Toronto, these exciting events are a chance for students of all skill levels to take the stage, connect with fellow musicians, and showcase what they’ve been working on in lessons.

Whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time or have been studying music for years, our performance events are designed to meet you where you are and help you grow. These performances are completely free for students and their families, and open to students enrolled in any of our lesson programs—including piano, voice, guitar, drums, violin, and preschool music.

How It Works

If you’re currently a student at our academy, you are warmly invited to register for our upcoming student performance.

If the registration form is visible on this page, registration is currently open!

Once registration closes, the form will no longer be visible. But don’t worry—we’ll reopen it in time for our next performance cycle. You can also speak with your teacher or the front desk team if you have questions about upcoming performance opportunities.

Why Perform?

Performing music in front of others is a powerful and rewarding experience. Here are just a few reasons why we encourage all students to participate:

  • Build Confidence: Performing helps students of all ages build self-esteem and overcome stage fright.

  • Celebrate Progress: Showcase the pieces you’ve been working hard on during your lessons.

  • Motivation to Practice: Students often find themselves more motivated when they have a goal like a performance.

  • Create Lasting Memories: Share your musical journey with friends, family, and peers.

  • Experience a Professional Environment: Our venues are carefully chosen to ensure great sound, comfort, and accessibility.

Who Can Participate?

Our student performances are open to:

  • Children, teens, and adult students

  • Beginners through advanced musicians

  • Students enrolled in private lessons at Toronto Arts Academy

  • Any instrument we teach: piano, voice, guitar, drums, violin, or preschool music

Whether you’re a singer, pianist, guitarist, or just getting started on your musical path, we welcome you to take the stage and join us!

What to Expect

Once you register, here’s how the process typically works:

  1. Coordinate with Your Teacher: Your teacher will help you choose the right piece(s) to perform and ensure you’re prepared.

  2. Reserve Your Spot: We work behind the scenes to create a schedule and assign you a performance time. You’ll receive your confirmed slot closer to the event.

  3. Rehearse and Get Ready: Continue practicing your chosen piece during lessons and at home. Your teacher may run through stage etiquette, intros, and other helpful tips.

  4. Day of the Event: Arrive at the venue at your designated call time. Perform your piece in front of an encouraging, music-loving audience made up of fellow students, teachers, family, and friends.

  5. Celebrate! After your performance, enjoy the show, cheer on other students, and take lots of photos to commemorate the occasion.

Venues We Use

We are proud to host our student shows at some of Toronto’s most exciting and comfortable venues. We always prioritize venues that are easy to reach by public transit, have accessible entrances, and provide a fun and celebratory atmosphere.

Tips for First-Time Performers

Nervous about getting on stage for the first time? You’re not alone! Here are some helpful tips:

  • Practice With Purpose: Set small goals and work on one section at a time.

  • Visualize the Performance: Picture yourself playing or singing confidently on stage.

  • Perform for Family at Home: Get used to playing in front of others by doing mini home concerts.

  • Ask Questions: Talk with your teacher about what to expect—they’re here to help.

  • Remember Why You’re Performing: This is your chance to share your music, have fun, and grow as a performer.

Family & Friends Are Welcome

We encourage family and friends to come cheer on our performers. All shows are free to attend, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Our performances are typically 60–90 minutes long and designed to be enjoyable for all ages.

Don’t forget to bring your cameras! These are milestone moments worth remembering.

Backing Tracks & Accompaniment

Students are welcome to perform with or without accompaniment. If you plan to use a backing track, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Your teacher will help you select and edit the track (editing must be done during lesson time)

  • You’ll submit your final backing track file in advance of the show

  • Our staff will cue and play the track for you on the day of the event

If you’re performing with live accompaniment (like piano), we can often accommodate that as well—just let us know in advance.

Performance Guidelines

To ensure a smooth experience for everyone:

  • Arrive at least 15 minutes before your assigned time

  • Dress comfortably but neatly (performance attire is optional)

  • Bring any required materials (instrument, sheet music, etc.)

  • Follow staff and teacher instructions during the event

  • Be respectful and supportive of fellow performers

Missed Registration?

If registration has closed and the form is no longer visible, that means we’re currently finalizing our next show. But don’t worry! We host performances twice a year, so another opportunity is just around the corner. Stay tuned to this page and keep practicing your favorite pieces.
